I worked for Walmart 2 years and after my 2 years at Walmart, I started to work for Sam’s Club. I always thought the customers at Walmart were rude people who didn’t appreciate anything you do for them but that changed when I started at Sam’s Club.I gotta tell you, some of these members are a threat to society. There is no way a person that this rude and cocky is a good and useful person in their community.

He kept looking at his phone all the time and when I told him the price he decided to stop and look dead in my eye to say I was wrong and I should scan the items once again. What's wrong with these people? They should put in the sams careers section that the job includes dealing with customers who are extremely irresponsible and delusional.

I’ve been working at Sam’s Club for a while now, and I’m honestly fed up with how things go down sometimes. I’ve been busting my a^s, making sure the shelves are stocked, customers are happy, and I do everything they ask me to do. I even thought about Sam’s careers as a future, like maybe moving up in the company, but after today, I’m not so sure anymore. So my manager comes up to me and tells me I need to take care of a few things. Cool, no big deal. I’m used to taking on a lot, that’s part of being a good associate. But then she drops this bo^b: she wants me to cover another department that’s supposed to be handled by someone else. The problem? That someone else wasn’t even there today, and apparently no one bothered to let me know. Now I’m stuck running back and forth, trying to get all these tasks done while keeping up with my regular job. Meanwhile, my manager just watches me struggle like it’s some kind of joke. It wouldn’t have been so bad if she actually helped out. Instead, she’s just walking around, checking off boxes on her clipboard, acting like she’s doing something important. Look, I get it, managers have their own thing to handle, but come on. At least pitch in when the team is clearly drowning. If I wanted to do the work of two people, I’d apply for one of those high-level Sam’s careers, not get stuck with everything in the store on my shoulders. So I’m running around, trying to make sure I don’t miss anything, and my manager comes up to me again. This time, she’s all about how I need to do things faster. Faster? I’ve been working like a damn robot, and now she wants me to pick up the pace? There’s only so much a person can do, and I swear, she thinks I’m supposed to be some kind of superhero. Honestly, it felt like she was just waiting for me to mess up so she could call me out in front of the whole team. It’s like she was setting me up to fail. By the end of the day, I was exhausted. But here’s the kicker—after all that, she still gave me some lame feedback about how I could’ve done things better. Really? Maybe I would’ve done things better if I wasn’t trying to juggle a hundred different things at once while no one else seemed to give a sh^t. Now I’m sitting here, thinking about whether Sam’s careers are even worth it. Like, do I really want to keep busting my a^s for a company that doesn’t care about its employees? I’m starting to think I can do better somewhere else. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re constantly getting thrown under the bus. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, and I’m sure a lot of people working here are going through the same cr^p. I just want some recognition, you know? A little bit of appreciation goes a long way. At the end of the day, I don’t know what the he^l I’m doing with Sam’s Club anymore. Maybe I’ll stick it out for a while longer and see if things change. Or maybe I’ll start looking into Sam’s careers somewhere else. Either way, I’m done working myself to the bone for a manager who can’t even be bothered to help out when it counts.
... read moreHello everyone. I've been a Walmart associate for the last 2 years and I'm loving it! The only problem I have is the location of my store and I can't find an affordable place to stay in the area. Every day, I have to drive for like 2 hours in total, just to come and go back home. My wife, on the other hand, is a Sams Club associate and she's also loving it too. I'm planning to apply for a job there because it's much more closer to our home. It's like a 10 minute drive and she has a much better life than I do 😀 I don't know how I'm supposed to go from Walmart to Sams Club though. I mean if I want a description of a job I can always go to Sams careers, I know that. But I don't want just that, I also want to read about people's experiences there. So if there is any people on here who work for Sam's Club, can you please tell me which positions at the Sams would make you say 'This is one of the best Sams Club jobs!' PSA: My wife told me I should go for CPU.
... read moreHey ppl. I'm a former Walmart associate who became a Sam's Club associate 3 months ago and I'm here to help you guys gain a perspective of what it's like to be a Sam's Club associate by publishing this post. I've seen some of the Walmart associates are interested in Sam's Club jobs so I decided, why not help the associates who are curious to know what's going on at this place? So let's start with this, working at Sam's Club is not much different or better than working at Walmart. Let me repeat that again for the people in the back: Sam's Club jobs are extremely similar to Walmart jobs. This might sound pretty obvious to so many of you people but I've seen a lot of people who worked for both, and they exaggerate Sam's Club so much, that it got to a point where it started to bother me. They are just selling untrue dreams to people and giving them hope for no reason. It's not like we are chilling in this place for the half of the shift and we are helping extremely kind, caring, and understanding members for the other half. No. People are rude and stupid here too and you will face very very similar challenges that you face at Walmart. I can't lie, I thought dealing with people, and when I say people I mean the customers aka members, would be a lot easier. I thought that because people actually pay to get in here. So the membership should decrease the number of people that you deal with, and since you deal with fewer and fewer people, you would get better and calmer conversations with customers aka members. But unfortunately, that was not the case for me. The arrogance of these people is hilarious. I'm gonna be honest, I thought the customers at Walmart were arrogant just because they bought the most buyable items, but I realized they were nothing compared to Sam's Club members. I swear these people make you feel like you are working at a 5 star hotel. Cause they expect the same service level of a 5 star hotel. Just because you pay 50-100$ per year, you don't get to be a billionaire you id^^t. Anyway, let's stay on track. I also thought I would be in a more well organized working environment in terms of not mixing the duties of one associate with another. For example, I never wanted to do anything that wasn't in my job description but that wasn't the case. And I realized I was naive to think that it was gonna be different. So if there is any of you who are thinking that the problem is actually your Store Manager or your Team Lead, they are not. It's the same at other stores and other companies as well. I witnessed it personally.
... read moreThe communication between managers and associates at Sam’s Club is so bad that it’s actually the number one factor that hurts the company the most (in my humble opinion). I can give you so many examples, but I will give just one. I’m a meat cutter at Sam’s Club, and I love my job. I think it’s one of the best Sam’s Club jobs if it’s not the best. It doesn’t feel like a burden to me that I have to go to Sam’s Club six days a week. The associates that I’m working with are the best and I fortunately haven’t had any problems with members so far. So, it sounds all good right? But no. At the beginning of the last week, I cut my finger a little bit and I couldn’t hold the kn^^e properly as a result of it. So as you can imagine it affected my performance and the meats that I cut looked slightly different than usual, because you know, it’s not easy when you can’t hold the kn^^e properly with your preferred hand. Anyway, the club manager at my club loves to just inspect different areas around the club, and boy does he love to talk. He can talk to you for minutes, and those minutes can become hours easily. He doesn’t even have to know you, you just need to exist and act like you listen. That would be more than enough for him. As you can imagine, when someone loves talking this much, gossip comes with it automatically. He is the type of person who would talk about a problem with everyone but the source of the problem. I’m telling all of this because this time, I was his victim. He saw the meat that I cut and didn’t say anything to me, but he walked around the entire club talking bad about me. Complaining about the shapes of the meat, saying that we need high quality people who know how to do their job etc. He was also kind enough to complain to my meat lead about me. Thank God that my meat lead is actually a decent human being who already knows all the stuff that I just told you about, but still, he had to come up and check me out. At first, he didn’t see my finger and he said I should be more careful with cutting because recently I didn’t cut properly, and he continued with me not being in any trouble, he just wanted to give me a heads up about it. Then I showed him the status of my finger and he spilled the tea. He said he mostly doesn’t care about what the club manager says but this time he also noticed a difference, that’s why he needed to come talk to me. But I kinda disagree. Because no matter how much you don’t care about what someone says about your associate or your friend, you are eventually influenced by the negative words. Anyway, he apologized, and he said I should have just used PTO. So the moral of the story is, just talk to the person that you think causes the problem, and your problem will stay much smaller.

For reference:
The cooler broke down at my club, and I happened to be right next to it doing zoning the whole time it was out of service. Every time a member walked by and realized they couldn’t grab their favorite drink ice-cold, they got mad at me like I was the one responsible for it. I don’t know what’s wrong with some people.

He complained about trivial things from the moment he entered the club until he left. When he came to the register to pay, he was mumbling something about me not being smiley and friendly. Anyway, I finished scanning his items, and when it was time to pay, his card declined. You should have seen his face when that happened. It gave me extreme satisfaction to see him like that.

In which case, why would anybody stay here long-term?

Started as a front end associate at Sam’s last week. I work at SCO. Literally NO ONE gave me training. They just told me that I’ll be in this place and nothing else. I mean I don’t even know if I’m the one that is supposed to ask questions or they should be teaching me about what to do?? It just feels weird.

Not one of Sam's managers I met is good. None of the ones who I know personally who were promoted was management material, and that was evident from the get-go. Who decides to promote these people and based on what is beyond me. This is a huge problem at Sam's and nobody seems to want to do anything about it. It's mind-boggling.

If I got rewarded for my work, that would be one thing. But doing their jobs in addition to my own and getting paid the same gets old really quickly.
