It's scary how bad the management is

Not one of Sam's managers I met is good. None of the ones who I know personally who were promoted was management material, and that was evident from the get-go. Who decides to promote these people and based on what is beyond me. This is a huge problem at Sam's and nobody seems to want to do anything about it. It's mind-boggling.

For what it’s worth I completely agree with you. However I think it is more a matter of the lack of management-material people that are available so they take what they can get. To put it in other words, any person that is actually management material quickly gets grabbed by companies in other sectors that usually provide better work conditions, pay, benefits, or whatever. Not that that’s ever going to happen but Sam’s should invest in the quality people rather than settling for the morons.

They promote people who enjoy being bullies and are willing to step on whoever they have to to get their next promotion.

What’s even more frightening is the fact that those same morons get promoted to even higher management roles later on.
