I can either be fully productive or I can help all the customers who stop me to ask me about something. I can't do both. So it truly pi^^^s me off that I'm somehow expected to achieve the impossible. Talking to customers takes time! Helping customers takes time! While I'm doing that, I can't be doing anything else. How is that so hard to understand??
Good point. I've never thought of it that way. Thanks.
I can also agree. The work needs to be done.

Customers and their satisfaction come first, right? But your performance won’t be mainly judged on the relationship that you have with the customers, will it? No, it will be judged based on the amount of work that you do. With that said my suggestion is to put your work before everything else. Ok, be polite to the customers but keep it short, if they continue the conversation excuse yourself. Being labeled as someone who can’t keep up with the tasks is worse that a complain from a customer or two.
