I was offered a job a couple of years ago but I turned it down because the pay was below industry standard, and not by a little. Is that still the case? Another position popped up for me that I've been considering, but I don't want to waste my time if they're going to lowball me once again.
Well I think it wouldn’t hurt to go to the job interview and see what they had in mind in terms of your pay. You will probably get an offer where the pay is lower than in any of the significant tech companies (talking about similar job descriptions), that’s for sure, but I would rather look at the wider picture. What are your responsibilities once you start the job, what are the working conditions, what benefits are they offering etc. Go to the interview, hear them out, make your decision. It’s as simple as that.
Any start pay is below industry standard.

If compared to FAANG it is rather low, but I wouldn't say it's way below industry standards.
