I think this is not normal

Why are managers so careless about customer needs? In my store, you get yelled at if you try to help a customer with something, because they think that you are actually trying to waste time. When you look at other businesses that deal with customers on a daily basis, you see how obsessed they are with their customers and their wants and needs. They also get rewarded handsomely. Don’t get me wrong, Walmart is not bad either and the numbers show that, but it could be much better if they were more careful about this. In my humble opinion ofc 🙂

That makes sense, but I think it changes based on which store you are at. For example, my store is completely different. They encourage you to talk to and help customers.

My store is not completely like yours, but similar. I’m an introvert, I don’t like to talk to customers anyway. So I don’t have a problem with it.
