Everyone is always asking me how I have such a good relationship with the management. They spread stories that I’m probably their family or a friend. But the truth is, from day one, I made sure to be an example of an associate for everyone. I always show up on time, even when it wasn’t easy, I wanted to demonstrate that I was dependable and committed to my job. I didn’t just do the bare minimum. Whether it was helping a customer find something, staying a bit late to finish a task, or picking up extra shifts when needed, and I made sure my efforts were noticed. I kept a positive attitude, even on tough days. I greeted customers and coworkers with a smile and tried to be as helpful as possible. A good attitude goes a long way in building good relationships. I took every opportunity to learn. Whenever I got feedback, I used it to improve. If there were any issues or if I needed help, I didn’t hesitate to ask. This helped me the most in building trust. And all of this was the reason why today I can say that my hard work has paid off. They always approve my PTO requests without any hassle and never give me any trouble. We’re always there for each other, sometimes even hanging out outside work. It feels good to know that my efforts are recognized and appreciated, and I advise all of you, especially new associates, but it isn’t even late for the old ones, to do what I did.
Young people should look up to people like you, not to dr^g-addict rappers and so on…
