Where is it all coming from??

I’ve seen tons of posts online where people say Walmart is terrible, but most of them don’t even explain why. I’m just curious what exactly do theydislike about it. I don’t feel the same way and would like to understand where all the hate is coming from.

I enjoy working there.

maybe your store doesn't have the issues that some stores have. some stores may have the value of respect for co-workers and employees. where some stores don't it's more dictatorship disrespect discouraging

you're absolutely right! My store's turnover rate is somewhere near 106%! In my case, the management is horrible! Starting from the top and all the way down to team leads! There's favoritism, no accountability, and straight out rudeness to employees and to customers! I moved to my area and thought that Walmart would be an amazing job but every day I contemplate putting my two weeks in and or just leaving! There have been many times where I’ve been on my 15 minute breaks or my lunch breaks, searching through indeed looking for a new place of employment! I’m not the only one that feels like this at my store and all the chatter that you hear from other employees verify everything!

I'm what you would call a job hopper.........never wanted/needed a career, just a paycheck. Longest job I've had was 15 years, very toxic place but the hours I worked allowed me to put my kids on the bus in the morning and get them back off in the afternoon. Since I left that job, I've worked in a bank, at a school, waitressing, at a hospital and even McDonald's! I can honestly say Walmart is the best place I've worked. It's not perfect by any means. I have a lot of flexibility and I do NOT have to ask to go to the bathroom !!! The worst part of working at Walmart is the rude, nasty, entitled customers.

you're lucky your store doesn't have the same nasty rude management team just like the customers

I’ve been a cashier for 3 years. It’s not the worst job ever, but the short staffing is ridiculous. We’re expected to run everything with half the team. That’s what makes it stressful.

Like, if someone calls out, you’re just stuck doing 3 people’s jobs with no help. That’s where a lot of the resentment starts.

Yup. Same here. They cut hours like crazy and expect you to finish pallets in record time, solo. It’s not sustainable.

So true. I remember when we had 2-3 people per department and team leads who actually helped. Now it’s like a ghost town half the time.

And they track everything you do. Scans per minute, items per hour. No time to breathe.

I worked overnight stock for two years. It’s not that Walmart is terrible, but the way they treat night shift like ghosts is wild. No support, no recognition, and the managers act like we don’t exist.

Honestly, I’ve been with Walmart 15+ years and I’ve seen both good and bad. It used to feel like a family. Now everything’s just about cutting costs and micromanaging every second.

Yep. They’ve stopped investing in people. Just bodies to fill shifts. That’s why folks are bitter.

You’ve been there 15 years?? That’s impressive. You probably know the place better than most of the managers 😅

Haha, some of these new managers come in and I end up training them. 😆 Longevity doesn’t count for much anymore.

I work in produce and my main complaint is the lack of training. They just throw new hires in and hope they figure it out. Then they yell when you do it wrong. Like bro, how was I supposed to know?

Yeah, training is a joke. I had to show a new guy how to run the register while I had a line 8 deep. Managers were nowhere.

I don’t hate Walmart, but I get why some do. It's not about the job, it's the way they set people up to fail.

I think you nailed it. People don’t hate Walmart for the tasks, they hate it for how it feels to work there.

Yup, feelings matter. If they treated us like humans instead of numbers, people wouldn’t be so negative.

Not everyone hates it. Some of us are just here to clock in, get paid, and dip. I don’t need it to be my dream job. But I agree with everyone saying it could be better.

I respect that take. Some people just want the paycheck, and that’s valid. But I do think the company should care more about morale.

I work at a smaller location and honestly my experience hasn’t been that bad. Maybe it’s a store-by-store thing? Our manager’s cool and we actually get help when we ask.

This thread’s exactly why people vent online. It’s not just hate it’s people trying to be heard.
