They want me to cover several areas on my own while making sure I'm smiling all the time. In addition, no matter what a customer says to me I have to take it and not say anything back. I can do two of those things at the same time. I refuse to do all three.
For me it’s not so much that I refuse to do it, but that I think It’s not physically possible to do all three. So, my strategy is also to do 2 out of 3. The easiest way they can have something on you is if a customer says that you are rude, unhelpful or something. So I take care of that, no matter what customers I face. I put on a smile and try to act nice. At the same time I cover as many areas as I can without forcing myself too much, regardless of what I’ve been told. That works pretty well for me.
Good approach. I'll try to remember doing that next time I find myself in a jam.
i work 3rd shift so i really dont have much customer interaction luckily.
Even if you managed to do everything flawlessly your boss would find a way to make it look like you did something wrong. Take it easy, the outcome is the same.
