Our return policy is ridiculous
How much money do we lose all the time because of it?
The company will be fine. If you’re a store level employee, you're probably annoyed by all the ridiculous reasons why people return stuff, and the level of hubris and lack of manners they demonstrate while doing so, as am I. Putting that aside, the company doesn’t lose a lot of money at all. The realistic value of things that people return is much less than the price for which WM sells it to them in the first place. Second, they usually spend the returned money on buying other stuff at WM. Trust me, it’s not a big problem.

A lot of money certainly, but I think in many states it is dictated by law so the company has no choice.
