I'm a hard worker and I was proud of it for a long time. Not anymore tho. Because whenever you try to hit the breaks for a little because you think that you are not as busy as your normal day, they go crazy. They act like you just committed a heinous crime or something. I'm really tired of it. I can count 8 people right out of my head who are not working. I'm not saying hard working or lazy, they are just NOT WORKING. I'm dead serious. Nobody seemed to care about their performance because everybody got used to them just running around in the store looking like they were up to something. I'm just tired of it. An employee who is a hard worker shouldn't be treated like this. If you treat us like this, nobody would want to work hard because they would know it won't matter in the end.
That's what I was saying to people, there is no need for someone to work incredibly hard as a Walmart associate. You just need to work at the level where they won't fire you. That would be more than enough because whenever you work the hardest at Walmart you get in trouble. Expectations and pressure rise drastically. They expect you to work hard every day because that's what you gave them so far, for every single day. They act like it's what you have to do. It becomes so normal that they won't even notice your hard work anymore because they got used to it very much. So your value also goes down automatically. So folks, it's definitely not a good idea to be the hardest working person at your store because you get nothing out of it. Believe me, I've seen it so many times.
I refuse to think like that. Because I believe thinking like that makes you a big part of the problem. When everybody thinks like that (as most of us do) then the promotions in Walmart become unfair. Because when everybody is not working to their full potential, the guy that gets a promotion or a raise wouldn't be a hard worker in everybody's eyes. So that multiplies the problem and it's definitely not helping to build a trusted and solid relationship between the associates and the management.
Associates always going to think that their managers are not working as hard as them. So that's a pointless argument.
Is it true tho? Do you think your SM or TL isn't working as hard as you do?
No, I don't think they are but that's just me I guess.
No that's not just you. Almost everybody thinks like that at Walmart and when you think like that you won't respect your supervisors. When you don't respect or love them, everything they say becomes a burden to you. Nobody is happy in this situation.
