Is anybody at Walmart because they want to be?

The only reason why I'm working here is because I don't have much choice where I live. Other than Walmart, the only other places I could get a job are the usual fast food joints, which I think are even worse. Everyone I work with is here for the same reason because they have no other options unless they move away. Is it like this for everybody? Does Walmart have a workforce of people who can't get anything better or are there some of you who actually chose to and like working here? If there are, why? I'd really like to know.

Not in my case. The team I work with is pretty cool, and I'm sure most of them would easily secure a job elsewhere if they wanted to. On the other hand, there are quite a variety of job opportunities where I live, so I suppose most of this depends on your location.

It seems to me like you hate your job,but you made peace with the thought that there is no choice. There is always a choice. I can’t imagine that there is any town that doesn’t have some sort of other businesses other than Walmart. he^l, if you really dislike your job that much, maybe even “the usual fast food joints” with slightly worse work conditions would come as a breath of fresh air to you. If you hate it that much, hit the job market and something will turn up.
