"Ok, so a few years ago, let’s say just before Covid, it’s a normal store. You walk in, you grab what you need, if it’s just a tomato and a pair of socks you can use a self checkout, or if it’s a full load, go to one of 6 open manned registers. Then Covid happens, and they remove multiple registers, add a massive orange tower for curbside… for some reason… close 90% of the manned registers, and add another set of self checkout. Fast forward to now, they got rid of the orange Walmart obelisk of doom, converted 90% of the regular checkouts to self checkout, and out of the 3 or 4 regular ones that are still there, only one MAYBE manned. A few months pass, and all of the sudden all of the self checkouts except one is closed, and there is still only one manned register. It’s confusing the sh^t out of me what exactly they are trying to do. Why tf add all of these self checkouts, only to backtrack immediately and close all of them. I understand they are changing policy to try and push Walmart+. I also understand that the increase in self checkout lead to an increase in theft (who would have fu^^ing guessed… who tf do they have running the business, I feel like that would have been a given) but why did you just convert the entire Walmart to have only 2 or 3 manned tills, only to man non of them, and then close all of the brand new self checkout that you just put in, because you don’t like them. Make up your fu^^ing mind Walmart."
