I was walking with two of my co-workers today, and they thought they said something funny, but in fact, they were just being horrible human beings. They were mocking a cashier for taking time off to care for her sick child twice in the same month. They were not ‘buying’ that her child is actually sick. It was extremely disrespectful and I didn’t laugh and felt really uncomfortable. They saw my face and they were quick to change the subject. I didn’t elaborate on it either. But I’m really disappointed that I work with these terrible people. I’m genuinely considering leaving after this. I want to work and make money but I also don’t want to lose my humanity. I’m terrified that I will be like them one day. I don’t want to.
For some people everything is a joke until something actually happens to them
