so yesterday at the end of my shift, I decided that this morning I wouldnt walk past something that needed fixing just because it wasnt my job unless it was obviously more than a small fix. But now I've been given feedback for poor time management even though I was on target with my own tasks. wtf? did I step on someones toes?
Been there. Tried helping with stray carts once and got told to “stay in my area.” Feels like the store wants initiative but only in certain invisible lanes.
Honestly, I stopped fixing anything that wasn’t mine unless a lead tells me. Not worth the lectures when all you’re trying to do is care.
Next time they give you feedback, just say, “Got it, back to walking past messes then.” See how they react.
It’s wild how quick they are with “feedback” when you’re just trying to help. Probably did step on some invisible toes, even if you didn’t mean to.

That’s the frustrating part—do the “right” thing and you get dinged for it. But if you walk past it, someone else complains. Can’t win.
