Does a bad credit score affect your chances at employment?

Recently when talking to some colleagues I heard that they check your credit score on your application. If so, how much does it impact their decision to hire you?

Yes, they do check your credit score, especially if you’re applying for positions that involve handling money. It’s not a deal-breaker for all jobs, but it can be a factor because you can seem suspicious to them if they think you are desperate for money.

Well my credit score wasn’t great when I was job hunting, but it didn’t stop me from getting a job here.
