I know that folks who just got let go from HO received severance pay but what about us?
on severance - people who decide to leave and not move will be getting 2 weeks of pay for every year that they worked at Walmart - i think this is fairly generous, it can be much worse, some cos offer nothing, some will give you a week, but 2 weeks is fairly solid
I got an offer for severance pay from Walmart DC. I was making about $45,000 a year for the last two years, which comes out to around $1,400 every two weeks. I'm trying to figure out how much the lump sum severance pay would be based on that info. Any ideas on how to calculate it? Would it be enough to help me out for a while? Just trying to make sense of this whole situation.
I found this in the policy on the Wire about severance pay: If you are eligible for severance benefits and have been employed by Walmart for between one and three years of continuous service, you will receive three weeks of your weekly pay. If you are eligible for severance benefits and you have been employed by Walmart for four years or more, you will receive the equivalent of one week of your current weekly pay for each full year of continuous service up to a maximum of 40 weeks. If you are eligible for severance benefits, the total number of weeks of Severance Pay that you can receive will not be less than three weeks if you have been employed with the company for at least one full year of service, and not more than 40 weeks. Continuous service means continuously working for Walmart from your last date of hire to your last day of employment with the company. So, according to this, if you've worked for Walmart between one and three years, you'll get three weeks of pay. If you've worked for four years or more, you'll get one week of pay for each year of service, up to 40 weeks. The minimum is three weeks if you've been there for at least one year, and the max is 40 weeks.
I can’t say that I know much about this, but given that the severance is not guaranteed by law and combining that with my knowledge about the way associates are treated, I’d say they will find a way not to pay the severance or at least minimize it to the maximum extent.
I don't think that hourly get any severance.
I respect the answers and opinions provided here but, are there any hourlies that actually went through the process?

A store associate here, not sure if this helps for the HO folks,, anyhow, I was cut in 2023... I'm not sure if all Walmart policies are the same, but i can say that hey don't care much about their associates' well-being. the severance package changed under One Best Way, but most people don't know what that is... If you've worked for 10-14 years, they average your hours from the last 6 paychecks or the last 12 weeks you worked. They cut your hours on purpose, so it's a lower average. Then they multiply your average hours by your pay rate and years of service. That's your severance pay, but you don't get it for 4-6 weeks!!! I know my intermittent leave affected the severance offer, I am certain about it even tho I cannot 100% prove it... My store manager knew I wanted to stay and even texted another associate confirming the position was available. I thought everything was okay, i was working overnight and had to cut time on Friday, the last day to accept the package. When I got to work around 11:45pm, the overnight associates told me that during their meeting, the assistant manager took a call on speakerphone with all the associates present, talking about terminating me before midnight.... they thought I should know and asked why I was being terminated. needless to say I was shocked... the assistant was paging me to the office, and when I tried to explain it was a mistake and to call the store manager, he wouldn't listen. He said he was doing what he was told, even after speaking with the store manager the next day, he said he would reverse it, but a week later, I still haven't heard from him. I've called the store many many times, and only twice did someone answer. The store manager never picked up. I wish everyone good luck and be careful trusting your management team... They're all angry because some of them will be next.,.
