I'm thinking about applying, is it a hard job? What should I expect?
it's a job that pays the bills. that's about it.
what's OGP?
OGP = Online Grocery Pickup
working at walmart ogp is pretty decent. it’s an easy place to work at as long as you get your job done, management won’t bother you. it can get hectic and difficult sometimes, but the benefits are good if you’re full-time.
i had fun working there and would definitely recommend it if you like staying on your toes. the work is simple. everyone is friendly and helpful.
if you’re a recent teen fresh out of school or looking for a first job, walmart retail is a great start. management isn’t that bad, and your coworkers make the day go by fast. customers can be a pain, but it’s walmart so what can you expect. ogp or online grocery pickup typically pays the best. it’s easy to get the flow of things, mostly independent work, but very fast-paced. i liked the job, it paid well as a student in college, though leads can get on your a** about time limits.
on the downside, my experience with management wasn’t great. there were issues with requesting time off and being over-scheduled, but overall, it’s walmart, so you can’t expect much.
working as an online grocery associate at walmart may not challenge way too much but it'll have ups and downs. you'll be responsible for providing customer service, maintaining merchandise presentation, and fulfilling customer orders... it’s a job that keeps you busy - you will improve time management skills for sure. But: Management can be hit or miss.
now, the pay... - let's say it's is decent, but you will need to work a lot of hours - depending on how much you need that can be quite a lot... and you'll find that some of your coworkers become like family. on the flip side, some managers can be a bit much (or more than a little bit), and customers aren't always easy to deal with. despite these challenges, many associates find the work environment fun and productive. you'll meet people from all walks of life.
the job can sometimes be stressful, especially when you're doing tasks outside your job description. you might find yourself stocking shelves or helping in other departments. this can be a bit overwhelming, but it also means you get to learn a variety of skills. if you're someone who enjoys staying active and being on your feet, this job might be a good fit for you. one of the benefits of working at walmart is the ability to learn new things and meet personal goals. the company provides opportunities for training and dev, which can help you advance in your career. You'll also have the chance to interact with customers regularly, which can be rewarding if you enjoy helping people... if you like people, you will like this job as well...
on the downside, the sense of belonging and trust in colleagues can vary greatly depending on the store and the management team. some associates report feeling underappreciated and overworked, especially during busy times like holidays. however, others find the environment supportive and encouraging, which makes a big difference in their overall job satisfaction. a common complaint is that the job can be physically demanding, it's hard on the body - you’ll be on your feet for long periods and may need to lift heavy items... but if you’re in good shape (and don’t mind the physical activty) this part of the job can actually be a fairly good plus as the job keeps you moving and can make the day go by faster.
work-life balance huh.... walmart offers flexible scheduling, which is solid if you have other things to do or need to juggle different responsibilities. but be prepared for the possibility of working early or very early mornings, late or very late nights, or weekends. the schedule can be demanding, but the company usually tries to accommodate your availability. another thing to consider is the variety of experiences you’ll have. on any given day, you could be doing something different, which can keep the job interesting. One day you might be picking and packing orders, the other day you might be helping customers with their online orders. this variety can be enjoyable if you like having different tasks to work on.
it's also worth mentioning that walmart offers some perks that can make the job more appealing. associates often receive discounts on merchandise, which can be a nice benefit if you shop at walmart frequently. there are also opportunities for advancement if you’re willing to work hard and show dedication.
however, like any job, there are challenges. some associates feel that the workload can be heavy, especially during peak shopping times. this can lead to feeling stressed or burnt out if not managed properly. it's important to take care of yourself and communicate with your team to ensure you’re not taking on too much.
the work environment can also be a factor in your overall experience. some stores have a positive atmosphere where associates support each other and work well as a team. others might have a more challenging environment with issues like favoritism or poor management. your experience will largely depend on the specific store and its leadership. communication is another key part - good communication with your managers and other associates can make a big difference in how smoothly your day goes. if you’re able to clearly understand your tasks and expectations, you’ll likely find the job more manageable and less stressful.
i think that many associates find a sense of accomplishment in their work. helping customers get their groceries and providing good service can be rewarding. knowing that you’re making a difference in people’s daily lives can give you a sense of purpose.if you’re considering a job hre for real, it’s a good idea to go in with realistic expectations. understand that there will be both good days and bad days. be prepared to work hard, but also take advantage of the opportunities for growth and development. also, you'll get feedback... listening to both positive and negative feedback can help you improve and adapt to the job so listen well. sometimes customers and mgrs will provide criticism that can guide you to become better at what you do, pay attention to this... embrace it and you'll learn... associates who consistently perform well may be eligible for various forms of recognition (eg bonuses / awards)... these incentives can make the job more rewarding and give you something to motivate u...
people are all over the pplace, some are good some are not - you'll meet a diverse group of people, including fellow associates, managers, and regular customers... building positive relationships with these individuals can open up new opportunities and provide support when needed. You never know who might help you in your career down the line... stay positive and keep a good attitude. the retail environment can be challenging, but maintaining a positive outlook can make your experience much better. when things get tough, try to focus on the part of the job that you enjoy and remember why you started and why u work here...
walmart is a large co - it's structured and that will help you learn about retail ops and business... understanding how a large company like walmart operates can give you knowledge into the business world that are valuable beyond the job itself... this can help yo uin the career no matter where you go after this... if you’re willing to put in the effort and maintain a positive attitude, you can find success and satisfaction in this role. good luck to you and hop this long brain dump helps somewhat.
people are saying that the pay is good, but that’s really not the case. Just ask anybody who still works there they will tell you what’s going on - it’s really not that great.

I've been in ogp for 2 months and I love it. Sometimes it can be really busy, but other times it's super slow. It all depends on the day. I'd recommend it.
