A kid hurt my feelings

I’m a 41 year old male working at Auto Care Center in my hometown and recently I got belittled by a 19 year old nephew because of my job. Apparently, as he told me, only teenagers and young adults who’re there only on holidays or while waiting for a ‘real’ job work there. Not gonna lie, as much as I know how young and clueless about life he still is, I got a little hurt and some insecurities started to grow inside me. Most of my peers are much better situated and have much more appealing jobs. Or is it just me seeing the better half of them, not realizing there are people doing much worse…

Your work supports your community, and that’s something to be proud of. Don’t let his immaturity make you doubt your worth.

People often only see the surface. He is young and hasn’t learned that it’s not just about the job title, but about how you feel in your work and the life you’re building. You’re doing just fine.

Some people might have 'better' jobs, but are they happier or more fulfilled? Probably not. That’s why it’s really ungrateful to ever compare yourself to others in life…
