I'm seeking some guidance in a difficult situation. Currently, I'm a young individual working as a floor supervisor at a local establishment. Over the years, I've been grappling with depression, but it's never significantly impacted my work until recently. Personal issues have arisen, and my mental health has taken a turn for the worse. Lately, I've been finding it challenging to maintain focus, and there have been moments of emotional distress while on shift.
I haven't disclosed my struggles to anyone at work, save for mentioning a ""health condition"" on my application. However, I did have to provide some medical documents to my boss when I returned to work after an unexpected absence, which included the holiday period. I'm unsure who to turn to about potentially taking some time off to address these issues without jeopardizing my job security. I don't have any paid time off saved up, but honestly, that's not my primary concern at the moment. I just need some breathing room to get things sorted out.
Is it feasible for me to request time off given these circumstances? And if so, who should I approach about it? Any insights or advice would be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance.
