Store teams work holidays, weekends, overnights—but get no pay differential. Meanwhile, corporate roles are strictly Mon–Fri with remote flexibility. Same company. Completely different relationship with time.
Exactly. And no one even says thanks. It’s just “that’s your job.”
I’ve been told “you knew what you signed up for.” Like it’s normal to work Christmas without a bonus.
Corporate folks get holidays off and still act like their workload is heavier.
And if they do work late once a month, it’s “grinding.” Please.
I’d take a pay differential over a pizza party any day.
Preach. $1 extra per hour would go further than any team appreciation lunch.
Not to mention the insult of calling it “a perk.”
And they always schedule the “party” during someone’s busiest shift.
I brought this up once and got told it’s “industry standard.”
The standard doesn’t make it fair.
Overnights are the worst. Messy freight, no management, and the same pay.
But somehow more accountability. They expect miracles by 6 AM.
I’m part-time and still get stuck with every Sunday. No flexibility at all.
You can’t plan a life when you work every weekend. Friends and family stop inviting you after a while.
Meanwhile, team leads get weekends off “to avoid burnout.” What about us?
Apparently hourly burnout doesn’t count.
Only matters if you have a title.
I work three jobs and none of them pay more for weekends. It’s broken across the board.
I’d stay longer if weekends actually paid better. Turnover wouldn’t be this bad.

It’s wild how working weekends is treated like a given. We’re expected to give up personal time just because it’s retail.
