Can we please get a consistent policy on how to check Walmart+ digital receipts at the door? Every other day we’ve got a customer waving their phone around while AP or a greeter is trying to figure out if it’s legit. Some don’t want to hand over their phones (understandable), others think we should just “know” they paid. It's a mess, and we’re caught in the middle.
They always get mad if we ask them to scroll through it too. “You’re accusing me of stealing?” No, I just literally can't see what you bought.
Seriously, had a guy yesterday shove his phone in my face and say, “Here it is.” The app wasn’t even open.
Yup, they always assume the blue screen = receipt. I need to see what you bought, not your phone wallpaper.
Exactly. And if you ask them to scroll, it’s suddenly a “violation of privacy.”
I had someone show me a screenshot of a pickup order and say “That’s close enough.” Like… no?
That’s my favorite—the screenshots from last week. Totally checks out.
I’ve seen screenshots of cancelled orders being used. You can’t make this up.
We don’t have a real policy at our store either. Greeter says one thing, AP says another, and if you ask a coach, it’s just “use your judgment.”
Which translates to “we’ll blame you later if the customer complains.”
Accurate.
They need to add a scannable barcode to digital receipts like we do with paper ones. Simple solution.
YES. It would speed everything up. No arguments, just scan and go.
I think they were supposed to roll that out but no one knows what version of the app it’s in.
Last week a customer said “I’m a Walmart+ member, I don’t have to show anything.” Like being a member gives you invisibility powers.
Premium stealth mode unlocked.
People will literally tap their phone twice and walk off like we saw a full receipt. No pause, no proof, just pure confidence.
Honestly I kinda admire the boldness.
What’s worse is when they shove it in your hand and it’s all greasy. Like… you want me to touch that?
And then act shocked when you say you’re not comfortable handling personal phones.
We had someone open their text messages and say “My daughter ordered it, she sent me this.” Like bro, what?
That's not a receipt, that’s a conversation.
I just ask “Can I see the total and list of items?” and 9 out of 10 times they get defensive. Not even rude, just basic info.
And then they say we’re accusing them of theft for just doing our job.
Honestly, if corporate wants digital so bad, then train us on how to verify them properly. Don’t leave us guessing.
Preach. Right now, everyone’s winging it and hoping they don’t end up in a customer complaint.
or s^ot at or hit or slapped.
This is why I stopped volunteering to work up front. Too much gray area, zero backup when things go sideways.
Same here. Overnight in Frozen is freezing cold, but at least nobody argues with me about receipts.
Back in the day, a receipt was a receipt. Now it’s a phone, an email, an app, a vibes check.
We’re expected to be tech support, security, and customer service all at once—with no actual authority.
And no Backing by management if there us support from management they say let them go they don't want to deal with it .
Honestly, if you can’t verify the receipt and the customer refuses to cooperate, just let them go. No one’s gonna back you up for stopping someone anyway.
Sad but true. We’re told to watch shrink, but not to “create conflict.”
So basically, do nothing loudly.
Walmart+ members expect royal treatment but get mad when you follow basic procedure. Pick one.
Or they say “I come here every day.” Like okay, that doesn’t mean I stop checking.
shrinkage thats a write off.
i can see where the dogfood is in your cart im trying to check if its on your reciept

Half the time, the receipt screen isn’t even open. Just a loading spinner or the Walmart app homepage. But yeah, sure, totally “proof of purchase.”
