Walkie talkie

I work late night shifts and I often get the walkie talkie so I could communicate with a manager in case I need something. The thing is I find all the fuss about going to pick up the walkie talkie, always having to remember where I’ve put it, and having to return it back at the end of my shift every time too much. Do you think would it be ok for me to just bring it home with me and never have to deal with the pick-up/return ever again?

When they gave it to me the first time they literally just said return it if you quit only.
