The break room reality no one talks about

It’s wild how a place that’s supposed to give us a moment of peace is often the most chaotic part of the building. Our break room has one working microwave, a fridge that smells like the ghost of expired lunches, and chairs that have seen better decades. Every time I sit down, someone’s talking about quitting, transferring, or just trying to make it to payday. It’s like our unofficial therapy office, vending machine café, and complaint center all rolled into one. And even though it’s a mess, it’s also where we laugh the hardest. For 15-30 minutes at a time, we remind each other that we’re human behind the badge.
