Team Leader position at my store

I want to apply for a team lead position that not many seem too interested in, which makes me think I might have a s^ot. I'm a good associate, I always show up for my shift (zero points so far), and I take initiative and help whenever I can. Still, I do have to leave a bit early often (I'm talking 15-20 minutes), so I rarely have my full eight hours. How bad is this? Will it affect my chances of landing the team lead position?

TL is one of the best positions you can get here. Go for it no matter what.

You can't know for sure until you apply for the job, but I think it won't be a problem. Just to stay on the safe side, you might consider changing your routine for a while, such as showing up early and staying for the full hours (or even more), even if your workload is not that heavy. Also, I would continue to do so for at least the first few weeks after getting the job, just to set an example for the associates.

hey! it's cool that you're thinking about going for the TL position! many do not want it so i dont think there will be along line of folks competing with you so i'd say you definitely have a s^ot at it. It sounds like you're a reliable and proactive associate focusing on growth which are huge pluses! 😊 about leaving early, if it's only 15-20 minutes and doesn't happen super often, it might not be a big deal, especially if you're getting all your work done and helping out a lot. but, it could depend on how your boss sees things. maybe you could talk to the mgmt or hr about your schedule and see if there's a way to make it work so it doesn’t affect your chances. showing that you’re aware of it and trying to work it out can actually look really responsible and proactive. good luck, hope you get the promo! 👍
