Our voices matter

I’ve been working at Walmart for a little over three years now, and in this time I’ve seen a lot of changes, some were good and some not really, but not for once have I seen an employee’s advice get implemented. Every day I’m hearing my coworkers coming up with great ideas to improve efficiency, customer service, and even employee morale. Hell, we’re the ones on the floor, dealing with customers and seeing firsthand what works and what doesn’t, yet when we try to share our suggestions it feels like they don’t even get read. For example, a few months ago a few of us suggested reorganizing the layout of the electronics section to make it easier for customers to find what they need and reduce unnecessary crowds. We even offered to help with the setup by staying to do the work after our shifts. Upon hearing it, the management smiled, nodded, and did nothing. And of course we’re still dealing with the same issues with frustrated customers asking for help because they can’t find anything. I’m not saying all advice they got from employees is good, I’m aware there are a ton of sh*t ideas but that shouldn’t be the reason none of them get considered. If Walmart took even half of our suggestions seriously I really believe it would make Walmart unrecognizable.
