My year of working at Walmart: the reality nobody preps you for

I’ve hit the one-year mark and let me tell you—it’s not what I expected. You get hired with this big talk about opportunity, team culture, career growth. And while some of that exists, the daily grind is something else entirely. You’ll get burned out from over-scheduling, stressed out by lack of support, and demoralized when effort isn’t acknowledged. I’ve seen the best people leave because they couldn’t take it anymore, while the ones who keep their heads down get dumped with extra duties. I’ve learned to pace myself, to choose my battles, and to protect my energy. Some days are okay. Some feel endless. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that surviving retail is as much about your mindset as your work ethic. #RetailTruths #OneYearLater
