I have been here for a year so I'm not sure how these things work. Would I be laughed at if I asked for a few mental health days off? I've been having some issues that have caused my mental health to deteriorate significantly, and I need a few days to just unplug from the world to recover. At the same time, the last thing I need right now is to be fired, so I don't want to risk it. What can I do in this situation? On a related note, isn't it messed up that I most likely have to choose between my job and my mental health?
You should be okay if you can get paperwork from a therapist. I think - the key word being "think" - that's required for a request for medical leave to get approved. Maybe somebody who knows more could chime in.
i've been the front end team lead for a while now, and i've seen my paid time off just keep stacking up. but i've always felt kinda bad about the thought of actually using it. like, if i'm not there, who's gonna run things?
this week, something kinda messed up happened at the store. they fired someone who's been there for 10+ years, a great person but had difficult time showing up on time (she was usually late about 10 min)...
so, i've decided that if walmart isn't going to be loyal, why should i? today's for me. i'm gonna chill, do some hobby stuff, and eat a peanut butter sandwich.
no shame in taking time off for mental health - we all need it
working at walmart will destroy your mental health in no time - the pressure, management, responsiblities, lack of flexibility. some people are psychos period - they drain all positive energy i have, i am sure many have the same problem. taking a day off will not change things, i think they gave us this day so they can use the fact that we have it as a proof in courts that they are doing things to help people. i am thinking about situations where someone goes crazy because of work and sues them, they can counter by saying, look at all these things we do for employees, we even give them a day off
