I don't shop at Walmart

Over the years, I've seen many small businesses shut down because of Walmart's way of doing business. I really do support free market capitalism, but small businesses just can't compete with Walmart's low prices. Family businesses that have been around for generations close as soon as a new Walmart opens. Not only regular grocery stores, but tech, corner markets, tool shops, fashion boutiques, footwear stores, bookshops.... Even though I work here, I always choose to buy from local, independent businesses, even if it costs me more. And nonetheless, every year, there are only fewer and fewer places for me to spend my money.

It's tough to see local businesses disappear. I try to shop local too, but sometimes the prices at Walmart are just too hard to pass up.

Same here! I avoid Walmart for the same reasons. It's heartbreaking to see all the stores I used to shop in through my whole life having to close down. Supporting local businesses might cost more, but it's worth it to keep our community alive.
