Case of stolen cigarettes

When I was working as a DM , I was having a problem with missing cartons of cigarettes from time to time. It was a routine concern- occasionally, one hundred dollars worth of cartons would go missing, once or twice a week. Continually, I reported such incidents but sadly the Store Manager continued to give me a ‘hard time’ insisting that cartons offered as units were sold single slices; and further that I needed to correct the On-hand figures. All the smoke shop cashiers I talked to said they didn’t sell any cartons, so I even checked the inventory twice. For instance, five cartons would be in the house one night, but the next day we would only have two or three left. However, both AP and the SM did not wish to tackle the problem I brought to their attention. This went on for an entire year. Then oneday a new AP over heard me discuss the problem. I gave her all I had, months of patterns, discrepancies, and the timing, in two days she arrested the main culprits. As it happens, these overnight lads had been pilfering at least $20000 of Newports annually. AP was like a hero coming to take them down when he busted us. Still I couldn’t help but feel bitter though. There were times when I could have almost narrowed it down to a less than 24 hour period, but then I’d be brushed off and told I was making a big deal out of it. They fixed it as soon as someone with access to the cameras figured it out and bam, they’re a godda^ned hero. To be honest, I don’t believe AP has intentionally allowed the theft accumulating to be more significant to make a more considerable case, the overall losses were massive. However, it was rather annoying not to have my endeavours dismissed for as long as I did.
